The following international research project was presented to the public

WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS AND THE MARCONI GALAXY: CULTURE, TECHNOLOGY AND MYTH-MAKING

An Italo-Canadian collaboration which, over the course of the Marconi Nobel Prize centenary, has developed a series of studies and meetings to focus on the complexities of wireless connections. The aim was to trace a profile of global interconnections, or rather the “Marconi Galaxy” as Marshall McLuhan defined it.

After the welcome speeches of all the participants and an amusing video sent by a research group in Toronto, Elena Lamberti (Alfredo Rizzardi Centre of Canadian Studies, University of Bologna) illustrated the project very thoroughly. Gabriele Falciasecca (Marconi Foundation) gave new examples to underline the peculiar internationality of Guglielmo Marconi. Barbara Valotti (Marconi Museum) read extracts from Marshall McLuhan and Guglielmo Marconi.

In conclusion Tania Bellanca Giusti reminded of her musical dedicated to Marconi, while Giorgio Comaschi briefly related how the Bolognese inventor inspired his radio show “Quella della radio”.
