MARCONI: 100 YEARS OF HISTORY AND SCIENCE

scientific forum
organized and set up by The Instituto de Història Contemporanea-Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in collaboration with Portugal Telecom Foundation, The Marconi Foundation and Acume 2.

The forum, which examined the development of wireless communication in the twentieth century under its scientific, technological, economic and social aspects, was divided in three sessions:
  1. Memory and Patrimony - The Marconi Archives
  2. Globalizing science and technique through wireless communications
  3. World networks and national boundaries
The speakers were:
Michael Hughes (University of Oxford), Barbara Valotti (Marconi Museum), Anna Paula Silva (Faculdade de Ciència e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Maria Inès Queiroz (Instituto de Història Contemporànea, Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Giovanni Paolini (La Sapienza University Rome), Luis Enrique Otero Carvajal (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Maria Fernando Rollo (Instituto de Història Contemporànea, Universidade Nova de Lisboa).
